Girl with One Eye Track 6

Designed inspired by Track #6 from Florence + the Machine’s album “Lungs.” For this piece I modified a vintage embroidery design, adding my own eye patch.

The lyrics of the song are interesting so I toyed with the idea of showing aspects of the lyrics, but the title was so evocative and had so many possibilities for stitching.

This piece was done in a style of embroidery called redwork, which is an older type embroidery traditionally done in just one color, usually with red floss or thread. Redwork was popular in the United States in the early 1900s.
